We recently returned from a 12 day trip (with my sisters and their hubbies) around Oregon: spent a few days at Loon Lake for a family reunion, then to Crater Lake where it was HOT and had loads of mosquitoes, and then on to Portland for the last 5 days. We go to Portland occasionally since it is only about 3.5 hours from home, but never have really played tourist there. Had a great time! Went out to Astoria one day and visited Fort Clatsop; another day found us in McMinnville at the Evergreen Air Museum (where the Spruce Goose is! WOW! That is big!). A couple of days we stayed closer to home and did some antiquing and also went to the Japanese Gardens up at Washington Park.
Our home base while in Portland was a wonderful B&B that my sister found for us: Georgian House. Willie, the hostess, was absolutely wonderful! She fixed us huge breakfasts each morning that featured wonderful fresh berries! The house is one of only 3 Georgian style homes in the Portland area and she is lucky to have it on a double lot so there is also a wonderful yard. She has done a terrific job of restoring it and it has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine and used in several photo shoots. She also has a house cat, Winston, who is Mr. Purrsonality himself.
As an additional 'thank you' (along with very reasonable B&B rates) I decided to make her a new apron and also some place mats and napkins. The whole thing sort of spiraled out of control as she will be sent 8 place mats and 20 coordinating napkins along with the apron! The 'penny farthing' bicycle is what she uses as her logo and she has a real one standing in her living room.
If you are ever in Portland, OR and want to stay at a B&B, I highly recommend Georgian House!

How cute are they. So nice of you to to do that for them. I am sure they will love them. Found you on the Fat cat list.
