I have been playing around with EQ6 and have just completed my first quilt! It was fun to play with sizes and fabrics and blocks. At first glance this looks like Broken Dishes, but I didn't want to have my 'solid' squares to be pieces so it became a 4X block with the solid squares. Sort of a fake Broken Dishes, I guess. I scanned in the fabric I had purchased so I could actually print out the quilt fairly accurately. I made it for the Grant Elementary School (Tacoma, WA) 'For the Love of Art" auction. My niece teaches at the school and asked if I would make one. I made one a couple of years ago and this one is far superior (though not perfect! ;-) ) to that one. Besides designing and piecing it I also machine quilted it with the help of my embroidery machine for which I have some quilt designs. Actually what I did was pretty simple. The dark squares have 3 concentric circles and the light squares have 2 concentric squares. The 4X blocks were stitched in the ditch along the edges but not in the X itself. Oh, it is named 'Mint Chocolate Chip Frolic".

Great job Barb. I do almost all of my quilt pattern designing in EQ6. It's fun to see the results.
ReplyDeleteThat must feel incredible. I just joined the Yahoo group and I am hoping to figure things out so that I might get EQ.
