So, here are some samples, the first with identical red, white and blue blocks, the second, still with RWB but alternating the layout of the colors within the blocks and the 3rd one with each block in a different color combo.

Swooning
A friend on SewGoodFriends posted this link today which introduced me to the Swoon block, apparently a design that has been out less than a year. It is a gorgeous block, but in the discussion Char wondered what it would look like with identical blocks. Good question! So, I printed off a block and drafted it in EQ7, my favorite tool for playing with designs and fabrics. So much cheaper and easier than trying out the real thing (fabric!) and then not liking the color combinations or whatever (much less expensive, too!)
So, here are some samples, the first with identical red, white and blue blocks, the second, still with RWB but alternating the layout of the colors within the blocks and the 3rd one with each block in a different color combo.
One thing I discovered in playing around with the 3rd layout is that there is a big difference in how it looks depending on where you place your bolder fabric for each block. Consequently I did a fourth layout with the colors just flip-flopped. Quite a difference in how it looks!
