In the meantime I have had a birthday. DH took me to dinner the Saturday before so when my birthday actually came around he forgot...that's ok...I give him a bad time about it but those details are not in his organizational system.
On the other hand, two friends from school did a bang up job. Long time friend Sally had her kids make me cards and she paraded them through the library with each child handing me theirs. Such great cards they were! Kids are so honest...one child said 'your books are older, too'! What a kick. She and I have lunch on Tuesdays and since my birthday was on a Tuesday we were able to have lunch together. Then at the end of the day, here comes Sally with her class again, followed by another friend, Carolyn, with her kids! Tagging along at the end was Carolyn's adult daughter with the beautiful rose bush pictured above. Then they all sang happy birthday to me! I had to quickly grab for tissues! The rose is a Jackson and Perkins called 'Mardi Gras'. It is gorgeous. I still need to get it planted and it will be in the bed that I can see from my sewing machine.
So, another year older, me and my books!
