Some of the designs on the cape were dictated by the illustrations in the book. The car, cat, castle, Italy, frog, ballet slippers and soccer ball were mandatory, but there were parts of the cape in the book that didn't show, namely the back. Jean and I decided to add enough designs so that all of the 10 major Dewey groups were covered, plus we added in a picture of Toni (biography) and one of us (using the number for friendship).
It was fun, but I certainly don't want to go into business to make these! Oh, the fabric for the cape was a polyester that looks like satin. Very easy to work with, and will wash and dry nicely, as well as pack for Toni's road trips when she is off visiting schools and at conferences. I hope she sends me a picture of her wearing it!
