I guess I was too busy today to post! Spent time again in the vendors but didn't spend nearly as much as yesterday! VBG!!
Met/met up with several cyber friends today - some I had met a couple of years ago and some new from thing year. I also had a chance to visit with a friend from my hometown! We grew up together, were in Girl Scouts together but as happens with high school graduation we went our separate ways. We are now both living in Washington State, though we grew up in California. It was great fun to reconnect!
Back to Expo: bought a few patterns, and some templates, and went to 2 seminars: Kaye Wood who of course was terrific! You can now watch her 24/7 online. They dropped the PBS connection because the total viewership of public television is now down about 50%. Each of the seminars (at least the 45 minute ones) have a couple of door prizes given away at the end (there are numbers on our 2-part tickets) and I was drawn for one of the ones from the Kay Wood session! I was able pick out a "view and do" pattern and template. The one I wanted also had embroidery on it so of course I had to buy that!
The second class today (and my last for this year) was presented by Janice Stewart. Unfortunately she doesn't have her website really up yet. She is a a convert from hand work (I think that is what it was). Her emphasis was using embroidery designs as quilting. This is something I have been trying recently myself. Seeing her work was very inspiring. She has also done these kind of designs on jackets which are really cool!
Had to make a few stops to make before I left just to make sure I had everything I needed! The last thing I bought was a license plate frame: "WARNING: This car stops at all quilt shops!" I just had to get it!
Being Saturday it was pretty crowded...I can't really say that the economy has had a major hit here - at least by judging from attendance. I already have the dates down for next year: March 3-6, 2011!
Oh, I also must say that a bonus of the event is the chance to stay with my nephew and his wife and darling almost-3 year old son in Tacoma! They are wonderful hosts and easy to visit with! Thanks!
Now, to play with all of my new toys! I will try to post some pictures of some of my purchases along with a picture of the group of us who met briefly today.
