Recent projects

First, thanks for all of the nice comments about the award. There was also a nice writeup that was put on the school district site as well as a brief article in the local newspaper (we are in a small town!) We are also being honored by the school board this week and will take the opportunity to give the school board a bit of information about the libraries.

Now, back to sewing projects! I found a new-to-me embroidery site: Embroidery Garden. She does a lot of in the hoop projects that are quite unique. One of them I just completed is the snowman shown here. Each side of each cube is quilted in the hoop and then they are sewn together. One of the sides obviously has the face included. I have added the snowflakes (from Embroidery Library - one of my absolute favorite places!). I then used the top of an old sock for the hat and made a mini fleece boa to complete it.

I've also been doing some towels for a year long swap on SewGoodFriends. The towels can be used anyway - leaving it as a towel or using it as fabric and creating something from it. The pink one here is one I received that has been re-purposed into a sewing machine cover, something that I have really needed! I've also been doing a bit of strip or string quilting and making hot pads or table mats. These are easy and fun to do. The last thing for my show and tell here are some fleece caps I made for DH and son and DH's 1st wife for their hunting trip. They are fleece and can be worn either camo out or hunter orange out. There is velcro to secure it under the chin. I guess they proved to be quite useful!
