It's summer

and I should have more time to attend to my blog but I see I haven't been here in a while! I haven't even been keeping up with the blogs that I read! I have been sewing but can't show what it is ... yet. I've also done some patriotic swaps with a couple of groups...Add Imagethe picture here is pretty representative of all three...basically the only difference is the FQs I sent to each.

For Father's Day, Dave's boys came over the weekend before and helped him take down 5 trees that had died along the driveway. They were actually planted by the neighbors 20 years ago but since they are on our property we decided the dead ones needed to go. Unfortunately we can now see the trailer next door but hopefully will get some more planted in there to mask.

And, of course, since it is summer, we are doing a lot of camping. We have about 5 acres on an island in the south Puget Sound that has been in Dave's family for over 100 years. There are no permanent structures on it now but it was the original homestead. There were about 20 acres to it originally but it has been divided among family members and some sold off. The sold off portion has gone back to trees and even some of our 5 acres has also. However we have lots of open space for everyone. About 5 years ago we started taking our 5th wheel over and leaving it for the summer along with several others. We can have up to 30 of us there on holiday weekends, including family and friends. The grand girls love to do crafts (along with fishing, sailing, swimming, target shooting, roasting marshmallows, etc.). This last picture is of younger grand girl (8 1/2) showing off the flamingo she made out of a stick. It is just 1 piece and the eye is a knot in the wood. Clever girl, huh?
