Getting ready for camping




We are going camping again this weekend and we always like to prepare most things ahead of time. Today I have been busy making potato salad, cinnamon rolls (Grandma's recipe), cherry cobbler and apricot cobbler, both made from fresh fruit. The cinnamon rolls are just about ready for the oven but the two cobblers are are done and here they are. The pictures don't do them justice (makes the crust look yellow) I know my mom would be proud of how 'short' the crusts are. I was lucky to have videotaped her a few years before her death making a berry cobbler and telling me the secret to her great crusts. "you don't use enough water!" Every time I make a crust I feel like I have her sitting on my shoulder, whispering that into my ear!
