Flowers

My roses and a few other flowers are blooming their little hearts out so thought I would share some of them here...

The top picture is 'Mr. Lincoln'. This was a scrawny little plant when we brought it over from the coast after DH's dad died. DH's sister had given it to their dad and it just wasn't doing well but it has grown like crazy over here. Unfortunately the root stock also takes off so I have to keep those shoots pruned back.

Next is a rose that we call 'Thomson' for the friends that gave it to use as a house warming gift...wow that means that plant is 20+ years old!

Then we have the poppies...these are a hybrid so the plant doesn't expand...unlike the flax that I have growing profusely in another flower bed!

Lastly is "Grandma Rose"...this is an old cabbage rose that has been planted in numerous family yards. I'm not sure if the 'grandma' is for my grandmother or my great grandmother...when my maternal grandmother moved in with my parents the plant was transfered to their yard. My dad made cuttings for all of us and this is my happy plant! Unfortunately where it is planted I can't see it very well so I'm going to take a cutting from it and put it somewhere more visible.
