My hubby had surgery on Jan 10 for a partial nephrectomy (partial removal of a kidney). It was done at Virginia Mason in Seattle and the short version is he is now well and almost back to 'normal'. Still has limits on how much he can lift for a bit longer. It was renal cell carcinoma, but it was very tiny and they got it all. No followup treatment, just annual checkups beginning in July.
The personal challenge was one I made last year after Sewing Expo in Puyallup. I set a goal for myself to make 52 pillowcases for the Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma. This has become the 'official charity' of the Sewing and Stitchery Expo and this will be the first time I have participated. I think it is the third year they have collected them at Expo. The first year they got about 2,000; last year it was over 4,000. We'll see what the total is this year! Anyway, here is my contribution!
