Catching up...

Time to get caught up with things...have had my fingers in several pies recenty...fabric beads, bookmarks, Plus-side Inchies, fabric dyeing, Post Cards, Happies, block lotteries...plus my own projects!

Fabric beads...this was a Fiber Art Traders event...lots of different techniques were used by the members and I decided to try angelina...angelina is a polyester fiber that comes in both sheets and in finely cut fibers. It comes is
all sorts of yummy colors and by combining
colors you get a multitude of new colors. It is easily fused with heat - either by ironing it between teflon sheets or using a heat gun. By making sheets and then rolling them up on a wooden chopstick and applying heat you can make beads.
I then wrapped them with some metallic thread. They are very light weight. One set looks quite different because I used
more heat on them so they changed color and texture...except for their weight they look kind of like felt
Bookmarks- FAT also had a fiber bookmark trade...It took a bit of thinking to come up wi
th something that was interesting...I am always catching kiddos using pencils for bookmarks at school so I decided to make some flat ones and use my embroidery machine to put the recipients' name on them. They were fun to make and I think I will be making more of them!

C is for ...another in the alphabet postcards for ArtsNTheMail...(hummm...don't think I posted "B" is for butterfly...)... I had some cute fabric that looked like sprinkled frosting so made cupcakes and put a cherry on top...it was my first attempt at making yo-yos --- they were pretty small --- for the cherry on top.

And the B is for Butterfly - I had some pretty butterfly fabric that I  added some satin stitching to highlight their bodies and antenna's and the made and overlay of angelina...
